Urea import

ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: Industries and Production Minister Jehangir Tareen has set up a committee to lay down procedure for import of 0.1m tons of urea by Trading Corporation of Pakistan.

The minister in a meeting held here on Tuesday directed the committee to formulate modalities including tendering procedure, opening of LC, arrangement of funds distribution and marketing of the imported urea and all allied matters.

He said the decision to import urea was taken to meet the demand in Rabi season. He said that the TCP would import urea and Minfal was asked to submit a summary to the ECC of the Cabinet immediately in this regard for approval.

A press release issued here on Tuesday said that the committee headed by secretary Minfal is comprised of all the manufacturers of urea, representatives of Ministry of Industries and Production, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Livestock.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Industries Dr. Mutwakil Kazi, Additional Secretary MINFAL Mumtaz Ahmed, representative of urea manufacturers and senior officers of ministries of industries and production.
