Ruling party candidate for PP-93

GUJRANWALA, Sept 13: The PML on Monday allotted ticket to Ashraf Butt for PP-93 by poll. Six aspirants of the party - Babu Abdullah, the son of city Nazim Babu Javed; Ashraf Butt , the son of city organization president Alhaj Aslam Butt; Faisal Afzal, Zahid Masood Chishti, Navid Iqbal Ansari and Mian Umer Bashir - had filed papers.

The returning officer rejected the papers of Babu Abdullah as his BA degree was not available. He had produced a certificate of the Ittehadul Madaris, Mardan, which was not affiliated with the education department or UGC.

Some 19 candidates, including PPP, PML-N and the MMA nominees, are in run for the provincial assembly seat, which fell vacant after the death of MMA MPA Mufti Ghulam Farid Hazarvi. The by poll will be held on Oct 11.
