LAHORE, Sept 10: ARD deputy information secretary Munir Ahmed Khan has welcomed the acquittal of Mr Asif Ali Zardari in the Steel Mills reference. In a statement here, he said the case was bogus and the court threw it out.

Like this case, he said, other cases against the spouse of Ms Benazir Bhutto were also bogus. He said now the government was left with no justification to keep Mr Zardari behind the bars.

The ARD leader said the verdict would restore the image of the judiciary. Former PPP secretary-general Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar celebrated the acquittal by distributing sweets.
