KARACHI, Sept 8: The placement lists pertaining to first year admissions at city's colleges are likely to be notified after Sept 12, said a source close to the central admission committee.

When contacted, a member of the admission committee said that two lists ie of home economics and computer science groups were being given final touches and would be ready for release within a couple of days.

However, major lists pertaining to pre-engineering and pre- medical groups would take at least another one week, as it involved certain verifications and correct information from applicants, said another official associated with the admission process.

He added that the process of preparation and announcements of lists for admission to various faculties in colleges would be completed by the end of September. Earlier, the admission authorities had announced that they would start releasing the lists in the first week of September.

It is to be mentioned that the admission committee had received over 83,000 applications for admission to arts, commerce, science, home economics and computer programmes.

Prof Rais Alvi, the chairman Centralized Admission Committee and EDO Higher Education has said that the admission process would be completed within the current month, adds APP.

The total number of first year seats in the city's colleges are 74,000, he said, adding that he was optimistic that all candidates would be granted admissions this year as 10 new colleges had also started functioning from the current year. The CAP chief stressed that admissions would be granted purely on the basis of merit.
