HYDERABAD, Sept 7: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, here on Tuesday directed the Mithi police to produce a woman and her husband, facing charges in a Zina Hudood Ordinance case, before the court.

The bench comprising Justice Attaur Rehman and Justice Amir Hani Muslim was informed by prosecution inspector Nawaz Ali Mughairi that the woman had been kept in the women's prison of Hyderabad and her husband in the Mirpurkhas district jail.

Mohammad Ramzan Nohrio, resident of Ismail Nohrio village of Badin district, filed a petition citing the DPOs of Mithi and Badin, the SHO of Badin, Diplo and Mithi, Arbab Ameer Hassan and four others as respondents.

The petitioner alleged that his daughter Kallan married Chanesar on July 29, 2004 but they were being victimised by the Arbab who wanted her custody and possession of his land.

He said that police were under pressure and on August 26, respondent police officials in a raid arrested him, his daughter, her husband, Allah Bachayo and Gul Mohammad Nohrio and took them to the Badin police station.

He said that he had been detained in Badin and the others taken to Mithi. He alleged that his national identity card was kept by the SHO of Badin when he released him to bring money to be paid to the SHO as bribe.

He feared that lives of the couple were in grave danger. He said that police would register a false case to pressurise them to revoke the Nikah of his daughter. He said that he was being pressurised by the Arbab to marry his daughter to an 80-year-old man.

He requested the court to restrain the police officials from misusing their authority and declare the detention of the couple as illegal.
