Trade with Madagascar

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Madagascar Trade and Industry Minister Olivier Andrianarison Sahobisoa has proposed for entering into technical collaboration with Pakistan. He said this in a meeting with Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan here on Tuesday.

Commerce Secretary Tasneem Noorani also attended the meeting. Mr Sahobisoa proposed the technical collaboration, especially in agriculture and import of machinery equipment like sugar plant, cement plant, etc.

He requested the Pakistan government to donate 10,000 to 15,000 tons of Irri-6 rice to provide a relief to the people of Madagascar and added after two months the government of Madagascar could also purchase Irri-6 rice up to 200,000 tons.

Mr Khan assured him that the government would consider the request and take necessary action in this respect. Both the sides agreed to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations in future.
