KARACHI, Aug 23: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has regretted that complaints are being sent to her from every nook and corner of the province that primary school teachers are not performing their duties honestly.

The minister was talking to a delegation of the Primary Teachers' Association, which called on her at her office on Monday. She said that it was the prime responsibility of headmasters to monitor the performance of school teachers and urged PTA office-bearers to play their due role in this regard.

On the occasion, both education minister and the teachers' representatives agreed on reorganization of the School Management Committees and making them functional for improving academic atmosphere in public schools.

Dr Khuhro assured the delegation that she would consider revival of teachers quota in recruitment of officials in education department. She asked teachers to perform their duties honestly and provide a strong base to the country.

"If teachers perform their duties with dedication, there is no excuse for the education department to over look their just demands," she added. She told the delegation that surprise visits would be conducted to different public schools and action would taken against absent teachers.

SYLLABUS: The education minister formed different committees comprising education department officials to review syllabi being taught at primary schools in the province.
