WASHINGTON, Aug 22: Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhannudin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, on Saturday inaugurated a mosque in the Washington metro area.
A large number of Bohras from all over the world, diplomats, numerous representatives from Congress, the State Department and the D.C. state and country governments attended the ceremony.
The new mosque mirrors Fatimid architecture and will serve as school, mosque and community centre for the several hundreds strong Bohra population of the capital beltway area.
"The Bohra community is a model Muslim community," said Pakistan's acting ambassador Mohammed Sadiq, addressing the ceremony. He underscored the community's services to the poor and in the field of education.
