12 Nepalese kidnapped

DUBAI, Aug 20: A militant group on Friday claimed it had seized 12 workers from Nepal because of their cooperation with US forces in Iraq.

A statement issued on the Internet said: "On Aug 19-20 we were able to take 12 people from a Nepali company prisoners - infidels who had contracted with the crusading US forces to help their war against Islam."

The statement was believed to have been issued by the Army of the Ansar al Sunna group. It listed the names of the 12 men. The authenticity of the statement could not be verified. -Reuters
