ISLAMABAD, Aug 16: Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has directed Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to place the issue of the 7th Wage Board Award for newspaper employees before the cabinet in its meeting on Wednesday.

After listening to grievances of protesting journalists in his Parliament House chamber here on Monday evening, the prime minister asked the information minister to put the resolution passed unanimously by the National Assembly regarding linking the release of advertisements to newspapers with the implementation of the wage award in the next cabinet meeting.

The journalists who had walked out of the press gallery in protest against non-implementation of the award also protested against a statement issued by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society representatives after their meeting with Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain.
