TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 12: Farmers of a dozen villages, whose farmlands are coming in the way of the proposed Motorway-4 project between Faisalabad and Khanewal, have urged the government to pay them compensation in accordance with the market price.

The farmers told newsmen on Thursday that they had been asked to file objections if they were not agreed to the present price of Rs120,000 per acre offered by the government. They claimed that the market price of the agricultural land in their area was at least Rs250,000 to Rs300,000 per acre while the value of orchard land was more than Rs500,000 per acre.

A councillor of Chak 384 (Eispur) claimed that he and other elected representatives of the area had filed objections to the office of the district officer revenue. He said the officials concerned had already assured them that the issue would be resolved with the consultation of the elected representatives.

The Motorway-4 project would be started within next few months and it had also been proposed by the area parliamentarians that two inter-changes should be built at Gojra and Toba Tek Singh to facilitate travellers of Samundri, Pirmahal, Kamalia, Burewala, Chichawatni and Vehari areas.
