KARACHI, Aug 2: The cheif controller of the Karachi Building Control Authority, Brig A S Nasir, has stressed the need to regulate the construction of buildings in the city to ensure a better residential environment.

He said that those who were violating building bye-laws were, in fact, constructing 'graves,' in the name of houses, for the coming generations and thus making the city's environment more suffocating.

Inaugurating the KBCA's renovated public relations department, he said that the next generations might be provided better residential environment only if construction activities were carried out strictly in accordance with the building bye-laws.

Referring to a recent visit of the KBCA's eight officials to China, he lauded them for undertaking the visit at their own expenses, to study town planning there and acquire knowledge about construction activities, so that they could bring improvements in the city in the light of their observations and the experience they gained during the visit.

He urged the officials to carry out town planning for developing modern towns in the city by utilizing the Chinese expertise. The CCOB advised the officials to adopt a positive approach to various proposal and plans and move ahead in that direction.

Appreciating the performance of public relation officials, Brig Nasir asked them to develop better liaison with newsmen, ensuring that the people were provided with proper information through newspapers about KBCA working. Later, the KBCA's PRO, Nasim Farrah, presented bouquets to the CCOB and other senior officials of the KBCA.
