LAHORE, July 29: Former PML president Mian Azhar and Functional Muslim League chief Pir Pagara have agreed to launch efforts for purging the League of opportunists and Qabza groups.
Both the leaders were also unanimous during their telephonic talk on Thursday that ideological leadership should be promoted for making the League a mass party, says a press release issued here.
Upholding Pir Pagara's step of reviving the Functional League, Mian Azhar said ideological Leaguers could not stay in a party taken over by corrupt people. Mian Azhar will soon leave for Karachi to meet the Pir.
MINISTER: Punjab communication minister Zaheerudin says efforts will be made to bring Pir Pagara back into the fold of the united PML. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, the minister, who has recently been nominated the provincial secretary-general of the PML, said every step would be taken to urge the Pir to re-merge the Functional League into the ruling PML.
