LAHORE, July 26: Additional IG Dr Azhar Hassan Nadeem on Monday took charge as acting Punjab IGP after provincial police chief Saadatullah Khan left on ex-Pakistan leave for 17 days.

On the very first day in the office as acting IGP, Mr Nadeem cancelled most of the transfers and postings of the District Police Officers (DPOs) and Superintendent Police (SPs) made by Mr Khan on July 24.

SP Ahsan Mehboob of Provincial Investigation Branch had been transferred and posted as Sheikhupura DPO while Faisalabad Investigation police SP Chaudhry Abdullah Khalid also transferred and posted as Rajanpur DPO. So was with Mr Shahid Iqbal, who had been transferred from Rajanpur DPO to Muzaffargarh DPO.

Mr Nadeem ordered cancellation of all three postings. He directed Mr Mehboob to report to Muzaffargarh instead of Sheikhupura and posted Mr Iqbal as Sheikhupura DPO, who had previously been posted to Muzaffargarh.
