KARACHI, July 25: The provincial minister for Education, Dr Hameeda Khuhro, has observed the decreasing education standards and unemployment as the main reason of decline in the literacy trend.

In an interview to Radio Pakistan, she said lots of opportunities existed in the private sector, with only the need to provide youth with resources. She added that the present government was making all-out efforts to uplift educational standards in the province.

The youths of rural Sindh would be given technical training regarding agriculture, agricultural machinery and computer etc, instructors for which would be trained first.

Talking of corruption, she said the problem existed everywhere, however, pledging that strict monitoring would be practised to cope up all such problems in the education department.

The minister said that the private sector was cooperating with the government in improving the standard of education, but some private institutes were following a purely commercial approach, which would be regulated and brought under the circle of law. She said that special funds would be properly utilised. - PPI
