TURBAT, July 11: Federal Education Minister Zobaida Jalal has said that the federal government has released Rs10 million to the Balochistan government to impart technical training to the Makran people in Islamabad to accommodate them in the Gwadar port project.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday before departing for Islamabad, she said another 60 students of the area would be given full scholarship at Naval University.

She said that the government had also released funds for the establishment of a marine college, an oceanography institute and technical centres in Gwadar on which work would start soon.

She said that the steps taken by President Musharraf to make Pakistan an advanced and developed country had brought about fruitful results. She hoped that the people would soon notice positive changes in their lives.

The federal minister said that the ban on appointments in the provincial education department had been removed and that new vacancies would be announced soon. "The Balochistan government could also take loan from the World Bank to make education up to matriculation free," she said.

About the National Security Council, she said it had been established to ensure smooth running of democracy in the country. "Now changes in the government are being made in a democratic way like the ones witnessed at the centre and in Sindh recently," she added. -APP
