KARACHI, Oct 27: A man was shot and wounded after putting up resistance to bandits in Defence Housing Authority, on Saturday.
Police said that a pedestrian was intercepted by two men riding a motorbike. They snatched Rs650 from him, shot him and ran away, later abandoning the motorbike which had broken down.
The police found the abandoned motorcycle and mounted a search for the bandits. The wounded was shifted to a hospital and was identified as Ejaz Hussain. Doctors said his condition was out of danger.
HEROIN ADDICTS: Three bodies of heroin addicts were recovered by the police from different places in the city.
All the three people found dead at Manghopir, Bohri Bazaar and Clifton, near Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine, remained unidentified.
The police believed the dead were drug addicts. The bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.
ACCIDENT: A young man died after being hit by a passenger bus on Hawkesbay road on Saturday evening.
Mohammad Sadiq, 22, was crossing the road when a bus knocked him down. He suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot. Police arrested Mohammad Arif, the bus driver.
CARJACKING: As many as nine vehicles — three cars and six motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday.
Three cars were hijacked by bandits, one each in former districts East, South and Central.
Two motorcycles were also hijacked, one each in South and East. Four others were stolen; two in district East and one each in Central and West.
ROBBERIES: Four robberies were reported in different localities on Saturday.
Bandits broke into Nisar Ahmed’s house in Quaidabad, held the family hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, jewellery and valuables and fled with the loot.
Robbers intercepted Tariq Habib in SITE and deprived him of cash and belongings at gunpoint.
Mohammad Saleem was intercepted by bandits in Gulistan-i- Jauhar and deprived of cash at gunpoint.
Armed bandits entered a shop of Ali Ghazanfar in Nabi Bux police limits and deprived him of cash and belongings.
