KARACHI, July 9: The Sindh police inspector general, taking serious notice of the press reports pertaining to the killing of two youths by Samanabad police in a fake encounter, has ordered a probe into the incident.
The IG directed the capital city police officer to conduct an inquiry into the matter to determine the facts. He said that if the allegation stood proved in the inquiry, an exemplary legal action would be taken against those responsible.
POLICEMEN SACKED: The Sindh police inspector general on Friday ordered the termination of services of two policemen, Constable Abdullah (belt No 2238) and Constable Siddiq (belt No 2578), on the charges of committing sodomy with a child, Mohammed Awais, at Colony Gate, Shah Faisal Colony.
The victim's father, Mohammed Ramzan, had, through a newspaper, appealed to the IG that no action was being taken against the accused policemen, who were performing duty at the Airport police station.
Taking notice of the appeal, the IG had directed the CCPO, Karachi, to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report to him. In his report, the CCPO's informed the IG that a case under the Zina Ordinance was registered against the accused Abdullah, Siddiqi, Dildar Ahmed, besides Mohammed Qasim and Fazal Rabbi, under FIR 43/2003 PPC, at the Airport police station on March 28, 2003.
The police arrested Abdullah, Siddiq and Dildar Ahmed, as nominated in the FIR, while the two other accused, Mohammed Farooq and Fazal Rabbi, were shown as absconders. The accused were later released on bail by a court. -APP
