GUJRANWALA, July 8: The district police authority sought the record of bank dacoities from various districts to trace out the Ghakkhar bank dacoity and constituted three investigating teams comprising senior police officers here on Thursday.

DPO Saud Aziz said that investigation teams comprised ASP Waqar Ahmad Chohan, City SP Sheikh Zaeem Iqbal and Investigation SP Zaraat Kiani. All the three teams had started their investigation after preparing sketches of the accused involved in the bank dacoity and snatching a car.

The DPO revealed that the four-wheeler used in the bank dacoity had been seized from Amritpura village, Ghakkhar town, late on Wednesday night. He expressed the hope that the accused involved in the bank dacoity would soon be arrested.

Four outlaws had entered the UBL branch and held the bank officials at pistol point. The intruders scooped Rs1.8 million in cash and travellers cheques worth Rs1 million from cashier's counter and the strong room and escaped. They also snatched the gun from guard Farooq Mirza and injured him on resistance.

KILLED: Two persons were killed while half a dozen others sustained injuries when a bus hit a wagon from the rear near Dhaunkel on the GT Road here on Thursday.

The wagon was on its way to Wazirabad from Gujranwala. Near the police check post of Dhaunkel, the speeding bus hit it from the behind. As a result, wagon conductor Bashir Ahmad and passenger Navid died instantly while half a dozen others sustained injuries.

They were rushed to Wazirabad THQ Hospital where the condition of Usman and Rafiq was stated to be serious. Wazirabad Sadar police have arrested bus driver Younas and are investigating.
