HYDERABAD, July 7: The Isra University has invited applications for admissions to autumn semester programmes. The programmes in which admissions have been offered include MBBS, BCS (hons), BIT, MBA, MITM, MSC and MIT.
The last date for submitting admission forms has been fixed at Aug 28. University authorities have said financial assistance will be provided to meritorious and deserving students and selected candidates will also be eligible to apply for scholarship from an endowment fund created by the Sindh government.
VC: The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has exhorted trainee officers of the civil services to serve the nation with a sense of justice and commitment.
He was speaking to a delegation of "18 under-training probationary officers of 31st common training programmes" who visited the university on Tuesday. The delegation was led by Dr Mohammad Ashraf, chief instructor, the Civil Services Academy, Lahore.
The trainee officers belonging to different services groups including women officers visited various sections of the university. Mr Siddiqui stressed upon the officers to work for the betterment of community without any fear or favour.
He said that the most important thing for an officer was that he should win the respect and confidence of the people. He told the delegation that the University of Sindh was the second oldest university of the country with 42 institutes and departments with 14,000 boy and girl students and 2,400 faculty members and administrative staff.
He said that in addition to this 60,000 students were studying in different colleges affiliated with the university. He said that the university had a transparent system of admissions through pre-entry test on the basis of open merit.
He said that there was no quota system but seats were allocated for different districts in job-oriented departments, other provinces and foreign students.
He said that it was the first university in public sector to introduce the internet system at a nominal rate of Rs5 per hour to students in the central library, hostels for boys and girl students and without any charges in institutes and departments. He said that within the next 15 days all institutes, departments and sections would be inter-connected through the internet system.
