KARACHI, July 2: The Labour Party Pakistan on Friday vowed to continue struggle for liberating Karachi from "religious and linguistic" forces and announced to reorganise labourers.

The LPP leaders made these pledges during a public meeting at Karachi Press Club at the end of LPP's two-day congress held in Karachi. They further vowed that the party, in collaboration with other socialist forces, would take part in next local bodies elections and present a new leadership to the people.

LPP Chairman Nisar Shah criticizsed Shaukat Aziz for his policies, and said that during his tenure, local industry would face destabilization and multinational companies would flourish.

General Secretary of LPP claimed that religious as well as linguistic forces were destabilizing Karachi and feared that law and order situation will deteriorate further in clash between Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA).

Criticizing military's intervention into politics in Pakistan, he said unless a joint struggle is launched against military's intervention into politics, the democratic process would remain at stake.

He also criticized the MMA leadership, saying at a critical juncture of history, religious parties' alliance supported autocratic forces. Leader of National Trade Union Federation Noor Bacha Khan said his organization would continue struggle for the rights of labourers and demanded reinstatement of Karachi Shipyard employees.

Other LPP leaders Suhail Raza, Comrade Bashir Ahmed, Shehla Rizwan, Sher Nawaz Ali, Ali Hasan, Villiam Sadiq and Liaquat Anjum also spoke. -PPI
