KARACHI, June 30: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed the authorities concerned to resolve the issue of funds release between union councils and district governments with particular reference to pending matters of equator.

Dr Ibad gave this directive to Additional Chief Secretary (Local Government) when a delegation of union councils called on him on Wednesday and made a request in this respect.

According to insiders, the municipal functions of the union councils under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance stand transferred to tehsil councils as such the share from previous octroi income is no more being released to the union councils and has been made at the disposal of the tehsil councils.

This transfer of funds were resented by certain union councils in the province, who had not reconciled with the transfer of functions so far. The governor directed nazims and district coordination officers to immediately fix a meeting with Additional Chief Secretary (Local Government) and sort out the matter as per rules.
