PESHAWAR, June 18: The NWFP Assembly on Friday adopted a unanimous resolution, denouncing the assassination of a Pakistan People's Party leader Munawar Hussain Suharwardy , murder of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai and suicide bombing at a Karachi imambargah and urged the federal and Sindh governments to curb incidents of terrorism.
Abdul Akbar Khan of the PPP cautioned that terrorism, presently engulfing Karachi, might affect other parts of the country. He said that the federal and Sindh governments should stem the wave of violence before it was too late.
Describing the PPP leader's murder a targeted killing, he said the government was duty-bound to track down the killers. He said that attempts to finish off the PPP by the use of brute force would be thwarted.
Amanat Ali Shah of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal presented an amendment to the resolution, which was moved by Abdul Akbar of the PPP, suggesting to incorporate the condemnation of Shamzai's murder and bombing at the imambargah should also be included in the resolution. After amending the resolution, the House adopted it unanimously.
