KARACHI, June 4: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Coordination Committee has urged people not to pay any heed to the rumours about future of the Sindh government and maintain unity in their rank and file.
"If people of Sindh and their representative party - Muttahida Qaumi Movement - was ignored while taking any decision about the future of government, people will not accept the forced decisions at any cost," the committee added.
According to the statement issued by the committee, the so- called religious and political parties had started a chain of terrorism and killing and plunder to bring bad name to the Sindh government.
It stated that religious fanatics were targeting eminent scholars and attacking mosques. In order to prove that the Sindh government has failed in maintaining law and order, the fanatics were turning Karachi into a battle field, it stated adding that the incidents of terrorism have hampered the development of city.
Commenting on the proposal of different political, religious parties and so-called experts about formation of national consensus government in Sindh the committee said: "The MQM is a democratic and peace loving party, which has the mandate of the people of Sindh.
The MQM wants that democracy and democratic institutions should be strengthened so that people can live peacefully. But, certain elements against the wishes and aspirations of people are busy in hatching a heinous conspiracy to trample the people's mandate by talking about formation of the national government in Sindh," the committee added.
Commenting on the statements made by political and religious parties, the MNAs of Muttahida Qaumi Movement said that killing and plundering were aimed at bringing bad name to the elected government.
Despite ideological differences of the so-called religious parties, the MNAs pointed out that these parties were united against the MQM. They claimed that the MQM ministers, advisers, and the governor were busy day and night in restoring life of the city.
They recalled that during the cricket match played between India and Pakistan, people demonstrated exemplary discipline that was appreciated by all the world. However, they said, one after another incident of terrorism within a few days had proved that creation of law and order situation in Karachi was a calculated move to fail the elected government.
The MQM leaders said that Karachi was a big city, where people belonging to different sects and religions believe in religious tolerance. They pointed out that the traders of religion had sent their children for higher education to the United Kingdom and the United States while they were persuading children of others to go for Jehad.
The MPAs advised the so-called religious parties that if they were really against terrorism they should condemn suicide attacks being made in the cover of religion around the world.
