LARKANA, May 21: Sindh People's Party Parliamentarians president Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has called upon the Election Commission to take notice of a statement of the chief minister about the change of loyalty of eight MPAs.

Talking to journalists here on Friday on the first death anniversary of Syed Nazar Hussain Shamsi, he said that Mr Ali Mohammad Mahar should be disqualified as his statement was a proof that he had been instrumental in changing loyalties of MPAs of different parties.

He said that the PPP would write to the Chief Election Commissioner after consulting its lawyers. About the Indus River System Authority, Mr Khuhro said that it had failed to get its decisions implemented, adding that end sufferer had been Sindh.

He said that Sindh, being at the tail-end, had always been deprived of its water share. He accused Wapda of snatching rights of farmers in Sindh as it had adopted a discriminative policy in respect of power rates for tube-wells.

He regretted that Wapda provided electricity at flat rate of Rs4,000 per month to Balochistan and other provinces for agriculture purpose but people of Sindh had been denied facility. He said that this discouraged growers in Sindh to cultivate cotton.

Mr Khuhro, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, called for removing this disparity in power rates. He said that the opposition would table a bill against the disparity in the rates at the next Sindh Assembly session.

Criticizing the Sindh government, he said that it could not ensure that the province got its share in the National Finance Commission award. Referring to NADRA's performance, the PPP leader said that it had failed to deliver.

He said that several families could not afford Computerized National Identity Cards fees as NADRA charged for every document. He said that mobile teams of the authority were also not working properly and its swift centres lacked facilities.
