QUETTA, May 17: Police here were clueless till Monday evening about Christian preacher Wilson Fazal who went missing on Sunday. "Despite passage of 36 hours my father did not return home," Jerry Wilson , the elder son of the missing Christian cleric said, adding that the family has so far not received any information about him.
Mr Wilson's family and community have claimed that unknown people had kidnapped him from Bashirabad where he went to attend the Sunday service. They said the preacher had been receiving threats from an unknown organization for the last many days.
"We have no enmity with anybody," Jerry informed police officials. The police have registered a case against unknown people for kidnapping. "We are investigating the matter and so far no clue has been found of the missing Christian cleric," a senior police officer told this correspondent, adding that soon the matter would be resolved.
After the kidnapping and threats to schools being run by the Christian community, the local administration has deployed a heavy contingents of police at all churches and educational institutions to avert any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the minority action committee was held here with Ms Asiya Nasir, MNA, in the chair. The meeting reviewed the situation and decided to stage a peaceful demonstration before the Quetta Press Club after the passage of 48 hours' deadline given by the committee for the recovery of the kidnapped preacher.
"We are in contact with the government on the issue," Ms Asiya Nasir, an MMA member of the National Assembly, said. She expressed the hope that Mr Wilson would be recovered safely.
