KOHAT, May 20: The District Nazim has ordered an inquiry into the misuse of petrol and diesel by the tehsil municipal administration and, have asked the Naib Nazim of urban III to head the committee and control the budget, a report prepared by a committee has revealed.

The district assembly in its budget had allocated and approved Rs0.8 million as POL charges for the year 2001-2002 for the tehsil committee.

However, a report submitted in the assembly showed the POL expenses as Rs1.6 million.

The anomaly was brought to the notice of the assembly where the figures of only 10 months revealed that bills worth Rs1.6 million had already been passed and payments had been made by the concerned authorities to the owner of the petrol pump which was in violation of the limit fixed as POL charges for official use and rules.

Naib Nazim Haji Iftikhar, who has been nominated as officer in charge of POL expenses, while expressing concern over the misuse of POL facility, said that he would keep a strict check on the concerned petrol pump from where the official vehicles were filled.

But he also demanded Rs1,76,000 more to meet the immediate POL expenses assuring that he would try to saving from this amount by closing due in next month.
