SARGODHA, May 16: Families of the four judges killed on the Sialkot district jail premises have voiced their concern over the authorities 'failure' to hold an impartial inquiry against the principal accused.

Family members of the slain judges, Shehryar Bukhari, Asif Mumtaz Cheema (both from Sargodha), Muhammad Saghir Anwar and Shahid Munir Ranjha, alleged at a press conference here on Sunday that they were being pressed by the government into reaching a compromise with the accused.

They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice and transfer the case to some other province. They said they had moved for cancellation of the bail of the principal accused but to no avail.

The complainants were not provided many of the documents related to the case, whereas the principal accused had been provided photo state copies of the entire file, they claimed.

Advocate Syed Ghulam Abbas Shah, father of judge Shehryar, said that evidence was being tampered with to help the accused. He further alleged that on repeated requests of the complainants, the charge sheet was submitted to the court, but all police officials were declared innocent.

Over 600 bullets were fired by police, but no bullet injury was attributed to them, he said and added, even the bullets recovered from bodies of the deceased judges were destroyed to save police from the charge.
