ISLAMABAD, May 20: The track-2 diplomacy has become active once again to ease the current tension between Pakistan and India and prominent politicians and other high-ranking officials have again started telephonic contacts.

Radio Tehran in a report said that diplomatic figures on both the sides are discussing some proposals for cooling the heat.

Mr Inder Kumar Gujral, former Indian premier and V. P. Singh were more active in this regard, the report said. Mr Gujral in a telephonic conversation said both the terrorist acts in Karachi and Jammu seem to be done by the same group aiming to fuel the existing tension between the two neighbouring countries.

Faisal Khan, a political activist from Pakistani side adopted the stance that Pakistan had announced its disassociation from all terrorist activities and said these acts might have been planned by the members of the militant group that fled from Afghanistan, the report maintained.

The report further said that the process of track-2 diplomacy was likely to continue following the first round in which the politicians of the two countries agreed to convince their respective governments to exercise maximum restraint.—PPI
