KARACHI, March 28: The Member National Assembly, Dr Farooq Sattar, has urged KESC's management to further streamline its complaint centres during summer as power failure complaints increase during this season.

He stated this at a meeting with KESC Managing Director Brig Tariq Saddozai at KESC head office. The meeting reviewed the progress of power supply system improvement schemes being carried out by KESC in Landhi Town. Measures to improve the working of KESC's complaint centres were also discussed.

Appreciating the efforts of KESC, Dr Sattar said that the pace at which KESC was carrying out system improvement work especially in low-income group areas was laudable.

He expressed hope that the way KESC was carrying out system improvement work in full consultation with elected public representatives would soon bring about substantial change in city's power supply system.

Brig Saddozai assured him that the corporation was making all possible efforts for timely completion of the schemes in various parts of the city and fully benefiting from the co-operation extended by people's representatives in this regard.

Earlier, KESC Chief Engineer Mohammad Shabbir while briefing the MNA said that 16 schemes at the cost of Rs6 million were started in Landhi in August 2003 out of which nine schemes had been completed.

The work was in progress on remaining seven schemes out of which four would be completed within two weeks, he said. MPA Moin Amir Peerzada also attended the meeting. -PPI
