SHIKARPUR, March 25: The senior vice-president of the People's Party Parliamentarians, Sindh, Agha Siraj Durrani and other leaders Khair Bux Jakhrani, Wahid Bux Bhayo and Ghulam Nabi Seelaro on Wednesday condemned the firing incident in Garhi Yasin town, terming it an act of terrorism.

The leaders expressed concern over the failure of Garhi Yasin police to arrest the culprits who killed a local leader of the party, Agha Yaqoob Durrani, and injured two others, Arif Ali and Younus Pathan.

They appealed to the Sindh chief minister, IGP Sindh, RPO Sukkur region and DPO Shikarpur to arrest the culprits and provide protection to the citizens of Garhi Yasin town. They demanded that the TPO Garhi Yasin should be transferred and an honest officer be appointed in order to ensure peace in the area.

MURDERED: Four bandits killed Nawab Ali Shar during a bid to commit theft in his house in Bakhtiaro Shar village on Tuesday night. The Khanpur police arrested three accused Ali Gohar Shar, Ali Bux Shar and Pathan Shar with the help of villagers and registered a case.

HUMAN RIGHTS: A three-day seminar on the international human rights, focusing on violence against women, concluded here on Tuesday evening. The Amnesty International, Pakistan chapter, secretary Iqbal Detho was the chief guest on the occasion.

The seminar was organized by the Graduates Coordination Society and participated by some 37 social welfare organizations. Iqbal Detho, Mujahid Bhutto, Sabra Soomro and others delivered their lectures on the human rights while focusing on violence against women and honour killings. The participants recommended free legal aid for women.
