SUKKUR, March 25: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister on local government, Waseem Akhtar, has announced cancellation of all the plots allotted by Taluka Nazim of Jacobabad to his near and dear ones at throwaway prices.

Speaking at an open kutchahry in Jacobabad on Thursday, the adviser said no one would be allowed to misuse the funds of millions of rupees allocated for the supply of water to the inmates of the city.

He said the Taluka council misused its powers and allotted precious plots to their near and dear ones at throwaway prices. He announced cancellation of allotments of all such plots and set up an inquiry committee to probe into the matter.

The adviser said persons involved in these allotments would be dealt severely irrespective of their influence. On this occasion the area people made several complaints about the Taluka council.

Mr Akhtar said any one found indulged in malpractice would not be spared at any cost. He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement believed in serving the people without any discrimination of caste, colour and religion.

He also presided over a meeting of Nazims and district officers in the circuit house, where district Naib Nazim Mir Asghar, Taluka Naib Nazim Agha Ghazanfar Pathan, DDO revenue Shoukat Jokhio and district support officer Mumtaz Buriro also made complaints against the Taluka Nazim.

The district support officer told the adviser that the Taluka Nazim had also allotted his official residence for lacs of rupees. On this the adviser asked the TMO that on whose authority the allotment was done. He also asked him to submit a detailed report in this regard.

MAN KILLS WIFE: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband on the pretext of Karo-kari in the Din Mohammad Kosh village, Ghelpur police station jurisdiction, Kashmor, on Wednesday night. The accused, Hamza Brohi, threw the body of his wife, Khana, in the River Indus.

KILLED: A villager was killed after his gun went off by accident in the Abdullah Burdi village near Moro on Wednesday night. The man was identified as Maqbool Ahmad Burdi, 60.

ROBBERY: Two persons were injured when they offered resistance to five robbers near the Kobhar railway station, Daharki, Ghotki, on Wednesday. Later, villagers caught hold of two of the outlaws after a brief encounter with them.

Mithan and Allah Warrayo Lashari were on their way to Daharki for shopping when the robbers intercepted them and deprived them of Rs40,000 at gunpoint. When they offered resistance, the robbers fire on them.

Area residents after hearing gunshots reached the spot and exchanged fire with the outlaws. The villagers captured two robbers, Sharif and Aziz Kobhar, and handed them over to police.
