KARACHI, March 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed the officials concerned to complete the ongoing schemes particularly in rural areas under the Annual Development Programme.

Addressing a high-level meeting at Governor House here on Sunday, he stressed over efficiency and quality of the repair, construction and widening of roads in Karachi.

Additional Secretary Local Bodies Salim Khan apprised the meeting of various development schemes underway in the province under the supervision of local bodies department.

The governor directed that all the schemes should be completed within the stipulated time so that the masses could be benefited as soon as possible. He further directed the concerned officers to personally supervise the development works.

Dr Ibad urged the authorities for continuous monitoring of water supply to Tharparkar through pipelines. He said that provision of basic facilities to rural areas should be completed on priority basis. The participants of the meeting were informed that this year Rs11,000 million were allocated for Annual Development Programme.

Out of this, an amount of Rs4,526 million was allocated to local government while Rs6,474 million were allocated for provincial government. The meeting also discussed some road projects including the conversion of Karsaz Road into a two-way road, renovation and repair of Shaheed Sibghatullah Road from National Stadium to Drive-in Cinema, construction of road from Grax Village to Hawkesbay.
