HYDERABAD, March 5: Various Shia organizations took out a procession from Kadamgah Maula Ali to the local press club to protest against the Quetta and Mandi Bahauddin massacres as well as bombing incidents in Karbala Mualla, Iraq.
Carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans, the protesters demanded that the terrorists responsible for the carnages should be hanged in public.
Several resolutions were also adopted at the protest meeting to demand death sentence for the killers before the Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala; immediate release of Allama Syed Sajid Naqvi and others as well as the arrest of terrorist leaders; and adequate compensation for the bereaved families.
The leaders said the advocates of brotherhood between Shias and Sunnis were being arrested while terrorists were walking about freely and warned that the very existence of the country could be endangered if such activities were not checked. They also urged the government to take action against those who were issuing edicts against the community.
PASBAN: Pasban president Altaf Shakoor has said that time has come to launch a relentless struggle against the oppression. He said this while administering oath to the newly-elected members of the supreme council of Pasban, Sindh chapter, here the other day.
He urged the members of the supreme council to prepare themselves for waging a consistent battle against the oppressors. He said Hyderabad, which was always considered as the heart of the Indus Valley, was giving a look of another Moenjodaro.
The Pasban chief said the elected representatives were busy in constructing their palaces and building their bank balance, innocent children were dying due to the absence of basic facilities such as the repairs of drains.
