ISLAMABAD, Feb 29: Azadari procession of Muharram 8 passed peacefully in the capital on Sunday. The procession was taken out of G-9 Imambargah to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala.

The chief of Tehrik Nifaz Fiqh-i-Jafriya, Agha Hamid Ali Mausavi, was leading the procession.

Alam and Tazianey were taken out on the occasion amid tight security. Our Attock Correspondent adds: The traditional 8th Muharram's procession of Alam and Zuljinah passed peacefully in Attock on Sunday.

The procession was taken out from Punjtani Imambargah under the auspices of Anjuman-i-Janisaran-i-Hussain. A large number of mourners participated in the procession, highlighting the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions in the desert of Karbala for the glory of Islam.

The mourners paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his family members and recited Nohas and performed Zanjeerzani. They offered Zuhr prayers at Fawwara Chowk.

Speaking to the mourners, Maulana Shabir Hussain Shabar said the Karbala tragedy gave the message of upholding righteousness and truth to the mankind. He said Hazart Imam Hussain was not only a great hero of Islamic history, but also the symbol of a unique philosophy which drew a line between noble and evil forces.

The Imam and his companions foiled the nefarious designs of evil forces of Yazid and saved Islam, he added. "It is need of the hour to realize our responsibilities as a nation and forge unity among our ranks, promote harmony and foil the designs of anti-Islamic forces," he said.

Later, the procession ended peacefully at Kamalpur Syedan Imambarga, Attock Cantonment. Sabeels of water and milk, and food stalls were set up by various organizations with the collaboration of Tehsil Municipal Administration to facilitate the mourners.
