JACOBABAD, Feb 24: Two bombs, each weighing half a kilogramme, seized near the Jacobabad railway station on Tuesday were defused by a bomb disposal squad. Railways watchman Hazoor Bux had detected the two bombs, one near a Railways godown and the other at the Pechoo railway crossing.
The bomb disposal squad, led by inspector Tahir Malik, reached the spot and defused the bombs. Railways superintendent Qadir Bux Magsi and DPO Din Mohammad Baloch, along with a heavy contingent, also arrived at the scene.
The police and Rangers personnel have cordoned off the area. Meanwhile, the railway track damaged in Monday's blast was repaired and the traffic was opened. Railways IGP Nasim Ahmad has suspended the in charge of the Railway police station, Jacobabad, SHO Jawed Ahmad, on the charge of negligence in duty.
The police have also arrested six suspects in this regard. The IGP suggested to the railways authorities to run a pilot engine between Jacobabad and Sibi. Our Sukkur Correspondent adds: The railways police have registered three cases under sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Railways Act against unidentified persons.The railways authorities believe that the incident is an act of terrorism.
They told journalists that additional police force had been deployed at Jacobabad and other railway stations to cope up with any possible sabotage activity.
TEACHERS: Led by GSTA leader Nazir Ahmad, secondary school teachers took out a procession here on Tuesday, pressing for acceptance of their demands.
