ISLAMABAD, Feb 18: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was left batting on a tricky wicket after a full bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside a judgement of the Federal Services Tribunal (FST) in Zahid Bashir's case.
Zahid, the General Manager Marketing of the PCB was shown the door by new chairman Shahryar M. Khan in January. Justice Deedar Hussain Shah, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar and Justice Falak Sher heard the case and ruled that the Federal Services Tribunal was competent to address the matter. Zahid was represented by Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum.
The FST had earlier told Zahid that he appeal to the PCB chairman for reinstatement. But he pleaded that Shaharyar was the one who had fired him. He then moved the Supreme Court.
The SC directed the FST to form an appellate bench to take up the matter. Zahid claimed that Shahryar had levelled no charges against him and in his removal, procedures were not followed.
