BAHAWALPUR, Feb 15: The ARD continued its protest against the government in several parts of the Punjab for the third consecutive day on Sunday. A protest camp was set up at Fowara Chowk in which the PPP and PML-N leaders and office-bearers turned up.
Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmad Jajja and Riaz Dahar, the district heads of both the components, were prominent among the participants.
Men and women at the camp raised slogans against President Gen Pervez Musharraf continually for six hours, and urged release of Asif Zardari and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi. They also condemned the action against the country's nuclear scientists.
JHANG: None of the PML-N representatives showed up even on the third day of the anti-government protest. A camp was set up at the district's Fowara Chowk by the PPP activists. The PPP leaders and office-bearers remained active in their protest, but they felt the PML-N's absence.
Talking to Dawn, PPP City President Iqbal Anjum said the PML-N, which was a very strong political party in some parts of the district, could have strengthened the campaign.
SIALKOT: The ARD set up the camp at the Allama Iqbal Chowk to condemn humiliation of the nuclear scientists.
Talking to newsmen, the PML-N and PPP leaders said the rulers had compromised on the country's integrity and they were earning a bad name in the international community by humiliating the scientists just to please the US.
Some of them believed that the former prime ministers would return home in March or April to safeguard country's nuclear programme.
TOBA TEK SINGH: The PPP's protest camp against the government policies continued here outside the Timber Market.
PPP District President Haji Muhammad Ishaq, former MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq and a former party candidate for provincial assembly, Begum Neelum, were prominent among the participants.
FAISALABAD: The local PPP leaders set up a protest camp here in connection with 'Remove Musharraf Campaign.'
The camp was set up at Main Bazaar, Ghulam Muhammadabad, under the supervision of the local PPP leadership. Scores of party workers and leaders visited the camp and also observed token hunger strike.
They vowed to continue their movement till the removal of the government. The protesting party leaders said the rulers had become a security risk for the country, as they had planned to roll back its nuclear programme.
NAROWAL: A protest camp was also set up here at the press club in which the politicians raised slogans in favour of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif.
PPP MPA Mukhtar Gujjar is scheduled to attend the proceedings at the camp here today.
