KARACHI, Oct 26: A three-day book fair was inaugurated by the governor of Sindh, Mohammedmian Soomro, at the Karachi Press Club on Friday.

The book fair — which will remain open from 10am to 10pm — will be open to the general public.

The administration of the KPC said that students should attend the book fair because textbooks were available at discount rates — from 25 per cent to 70 per cent.

At least, thirty stalls have been established by booksellers, including some renowned publishers.

Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro said that it was the collective responsibility of society to ensure dispensation of quality education and availability of standard books to all school-going children in the country.

“Country’s progress and prosperity is associated with education and without accomplishing desired results in this field our growth in others areas of life would remain a dream,” he observed.

Saying that the country is currently passing through a critical phase, he observed that at this juncture of history the people of Pakistan needed to maintain unity and patience among their ranks.

The president of the KPC, Khurshid Tanveer, said that the book fair would help people procure those books that they wanted to read.—PPI
