ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would address the joint session of AJK Assembly on Thursday (Feb 5) which will be telecast live by AJK TV which goes into operation on the day.
Mr Jamali is expected to address the joint session of the AJK assembly on Kashmir day being observed throughout the world by Kashmiris. Meanwhile, one-minute's silence, preceded by a siren, would be observed in the federal and provincial capitals at 10:00 in the morning on Solidarity Day and traffic would come to a halt.
Rallies, processions, seminars, and photo exhibitions are to be arranged both at home and abroad to project the cause of the Kashmiri people. Suitable banners, screens, and posters would be placed at prominent points in the country for the same purpose.
Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television would continue day- long transmissions, while newspapers will carry special reports on the occasion. A human chain will be formed at Kohala bridge, linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. Pakistani and Kashmiri leaders including ministers and parliamentarians would attend the ceremony.
The Foreign Office will be arranging briefings for all foreign missions in Islamabad on the latest situation in Kashmir, and Pakistan's stand on the issue. All Pakistani missions abroad will also organize receptions for Kashmiris and Pakistanis living there.
Another feature of the day will be Kashmir Solidarity Walks to be held at the Federal and Provincial capitals, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Skardu and all district headquarters.
In Islamabad, the walk would begin from Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat and terminate at parade ground. Islamabad's local MNAs and Senators are being invited to attend the walk.
Other programmes include exhibition of Kashmiri handicrafts at Lok Virsa, painting exhibition on Kashmir at Liaquat Memorial Hall, Rawalpindi, screening of video documentaries, song competition, mushaira, talk shows and dramas on Kashmir.-APP
