KARACHI, Feb 1: Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Rauf Siddiqui has said that the elected representatives were making efforts to resolve the problems of the people at their doorsteps on priority basis.

He stated this while speaking at an open kutchery held in Lines Area on Sunday. The area people informed him of their problems, on which he issued directives.

On complaints of faulty bills issued by the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation, he directed the officers present on the occasion to redress the situation.

Taking notice of heaps of garbage, he directed the officers concerned to maintain cleanliness in the area. When informed of illegal hydrants and sale of water, the minister ordered action against the elements involved and said consistent water supply be ensured in the area and that strict action would be taken against the officials concerned if any complaint in this regard was received during Eid days.

To a complaint regarding the sewage getting mixed with drinking water in the area, ordering immediate action, he told the officers concerned that those endangering people's lives would not be pardoned.

Mr Siddiqui directed the cantonment officers to carry out road construction work at the earliest, when informed that the road in front of the Military Workshop was in dilapidated condition. Federal Housing Minister Mr Safwanullah was also present on the occasion.-PPI
