HYDERABAD, Feb 1: The city has been suffering from chaotic traffic conditions for the last three days due to a rise in the number of pushcarts and unauthorized parking places.

Worst traffic jams were witnessed on the Station Road, Risala Road, Cloth Market and Sadar Bazaar roads. Traffic also remains jam at the Kohinoor Chowk, Hyder Chowk, Bacha Khan Chowk, Sarfaraz Charhi, Timber Market, Market Tower, Hirabad, Fakir-jo-Pir roundabout, Pinjra Pole and Phuelli.

The movement of sacrificial animals in vehicles also created a host of difficulties. The pushcarts which were allowed by the police and taluka municipal administration authorities on the main roads contributed to the traffic jams.

Wrong parking of vehicles and unauthorized parking places also affected the normal flow of traffic. There was a rush of traffic on the Hala Naka Road where a cattle bazaar of sacrificial animals was established.

Earlier, the permission to the contractor of the cattle bazaar was withdrawn by the taluka Nazim but he got an stay order from a court and started his business at the bus terminal site.

The traffic conditions were no different in the Latifabad taluka where two cattle bazaars were set up. The contract for one was awarded by the taluka municipal administration while the other was set up at Cantonment's GTC ground.

Hyder Chowk was the worst affected area as sewage had accumulated at the roundabout. Shopkeepers and residents blocked the roundabout for several hours by burning tyres to mark their protest.

They said the problem of sewage accumulation at Hyder Chowk, Mumtaz Colony and adjoining streets had remained unresolved for the last one year. They said the passage to Tawwakal and Noorani mosques was also submerged by sewage.

They said they had complained to the City taluka Nazim but no steps had been taken to resolve the matter. Muttihada Qaumi Movement MNA Professor Khalid Wahab and MPA Aslam Pervez, who arrived at the scene, assured the protesters that the problem would soon be solved.

The taluka Nazim has blamed the Hyderabad Development Authority for not connecting 80 manholes' lines with each otherwhich had led to the collapse of sewerage system in the area.

KILLED: Yaqoob, 40, and Zeeshan, 25, who were on a motorbike, were killed after being run over by a truck in the Site area on Thursday night. On Friday, 14-year-old Waseem,a resident of Latifabad-2 died after being hit by a moving railway engine at the railway crossing.
