KARACHI, Feb 1: The city government, in collaboration with all the 18 town administrations, has made elaborate arrangements to dispose of sacrificial animals' offal during the Eid days.
In this regard, City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has set up a central control room in the city government's office at the Civic Centre, where citizens can lodge their complaints, on phone no 9230060-1, besides a help line, No 134 (having five lines), concerning lifting of offal and unhygienic conditions.
The control room would function round-the-clock during Eid holidays. The Nazim has directed town administrations and Union Council Nazims to collect offal at open places, grounds and parks, besides promoting temporary slaughter houses at under-construction parks and playgrounds, so that city streets and roads should remain neat. Mr Khan also asked the town administrations and UC Nazims to ensure cleanliness in their respective jurisdictions.
LAW AND ORDER: City Nazim has also instructed the police department to maintain law and order and ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the city.
Meanwhile, the city government has provided 30 refuse-collection vans and other related equipment for ensuring cleanliness in city. City Nazim on Saturday handed over the keys of the vans to Nazims of various union councils at a simple ceremony.
The union councils, which were given the vehicles, included Liaquatabad Town UCs No 1, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; North Nazimabad Town UCs No 6 and 8; Gulberg Town UC No 6; SITE Town UC No 1 and Saddar Town UC No 5.
CELLS AT HOSPITALS: Sindh chief minister's advisor on Health affairs, Nauman Saigal, said on Sunday that emergency cells have been set up at all hospitals of the province, where doctors and paramedics would be present round-the-clock.
He asked the doctors and staff posted at the cells to perform their duties honestly, so that the patients could be able to enjoy Eid festivities. He appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness in their areas on Eid, to prevent outbreak of diseases.
MESSAGES: Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has called upon the people to follow the spirit behind sacrifice delivered through Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) and his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (A.S).
"Today, we need the same emotions of sacrifice to bring improvement in our lives," he said in his message on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated on Monday.
Dr Ibad saidif the principles, laws, and social regulations and the tradition set by Sunnat-i-Ibrahimi were followed in true spirit it could transform society into a civilized nation.
The governor along with MNAs, MPAs, senate members, and Naib Nazim will offer Eid prayer at 8am at Polo ground on Monday. He will exchange Eid greetings with representatives of armed forces at the Governor House from 9am to 10am.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ali Mahar, in his message on Eid, called upon all Muslims to promote love and solidarity among their Muslim brethren. He called upon Muslims to take lesson from the message of sacrifice and implement its philosophy in its true spirit.
