DADU, Aug 29: The people of Sindh will not accept projects that are being built against their will and the wishes like the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam, says president of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.

He was speaking at rallies organized by the Anti-Thal Canal Action Committee in Dadu, Sehwan and Khairpur Nathan Shah on Thursday night.

The PPP leader said that the party would continue its struggle until the shelving of the projects.

President of the Awami Tehrik Rasool Bux Palijo criticized Gen Musharraf’s announcement to build Thal canal and Kalabagh dam, saying that the people of SIndh were against their construction, adding that if work on these projects were not stopped immediately, the people were ready to struggle using all legal means available to them.

Chief of PML-N, Sindh, Afzal Gujjar feared that these projects would cause the collapse of the province’s rural economy.—Correspondent
