KARACHI, Jan 22: On the occasion of fifth Liaqat National Hospital symposium, Department of Neurosurgery and Spinal department, in collaboration with Medtronic, arranged first Cadaveric spinal instrumentation workshop.
The workshop is the first of its kind in the country, held to train neurosurgeons. On this occasion, Dr Iftikharul Haq, a spinal surgeon from Canada, via video conference demonstrated "Lumber pedicle screw insertion."
Dr Salman Sharif, consultant neuro and spinal surgeon at the LNH, demonstrated "Technique of Thoracic pedicle screw insertion." He demonstrated different operations on models and cadavers.
Among the trainers, Prof Iftikhar Ali Raja discussed TB of spine. Dr Shahid Akhond from the Aga Khan University Hospital discussed "Anatomy & Embryology of lateral mass." Dr Vohra, Professor of Neurosurgery from King Edward Medical Collage, elaborated on medical instruments.
Meanwhile, The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology organized a workshop on Vulval Disorders in connection with LHN symposium. The speakers at the moot included Dr Khusro Sultana, Dr Shaheen Zafar, Dr Javed Malik and others. -PPI
