KARACHI, Jan 21: Educational schemes worth Rs898.578 million have been approved for Karachi and its suburbs by the Sindh government. This was announced by Sindh minister for planning and development , Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bokhari, after a meeting in Karachi.

Under the schemes, seven colleges and 18 new schools would be set up. The minister disclosed that 73 primary, middle and high schools are either to be constructed or renovated. New buildings are being built or existing structures are being upgraded or renovated to cater to the needs of students and the teaching staff.

The schemes included establishment of a government degree college for women at Gadap, a government degree science and commerce college in Orangi, reconstruction of degree college for women in Nazimabad, establishment of the City Degree College, Sharifabad, establishment of a degree girls college at Safoora Goth, establishment of an arts/science degree college at North Nazimabad, construction of a degree boys college in Scheme-33, establishment of a boys degree college in Baldia, establishment of a girls degree college at Buffer Zone and a degree college at Matroville, SITE at Qasba Colony.

The minister added that the government was paying maximum attention to project of public welfare and a number of other schemes for water and roads were either being implemented or were in various stages of approval so that the people in the middle and lower income areas get the benefits of development on which the government is focusing all its attention.-PPI
