LAHORE, Jan 20: A schoolgirl was killed while a teacher among 14 others injured in a roof collapse in Kahna on Tuesday. Police said schoolteacher Nazia Akbar was taking her class when the roof of the classroom collapsed. The teacher and 15 students got entrapped in the rubble while 10 other students managed to escape.

The police along with other agencies rushed to the scene where residents had already launched a rescue operation. All the injured were taken out from the debris and rushed to hospital from where they all were shifted to the Lahore General Hospital.

One injured student, Aqsa (7) died after first aid while 13 other students and their teacher were stated to be in critical condition. The school was being run by a private party. No case was registered and the body was returned to family without autopsy.

SUICIDE: A youngster was found hanged in his house at Bhatta Chowk in South Cantonment on Tuesday. Quoting family, the police said Khalid Ahmad, 26, was jobless for two years and was upset. His family wanted him to marry, but he refused. Despite his refusal, his family planned his marriage after the coming Eid. This upset him and he ended his life.
