KARACHI, Jan 20: Three persons died and 14 others were injured in road accidents in different parts of the city on Tuesday. In a rain related accident, a young woman died and seven other passengers of a minibus were injured near Shaheed-i-Millat Flyover.

Police said that Kausar Zaidi, 25, died and seven other passengers were injured when a minibus overturned while overtaking another minibus near Shaheed-i-Millat Flyover. Police said that Kausar was a resident of Korangi.

The body and the injured passengers were shifted to the JPMC for autopsy and treatment. Another seven passengers were injured when a speeding National Coach slipped on the road and rammed into an electric pole near Old Sabzimandi. Police said that the injured passengers were taken to the JPMC for treatment. They were identified as Zahid, Mohammad Bashir, Mohammad Ajaz, Mohammad Younis, Umar, Israr, Asif.

An unknown man died when a pickup truck fell into a ditch in Gadap on Tuesday morning. Police said that the pickup truck was carrying chickens. A young man, Shehanshah, was knocked down by a speeding truck in Steel Town. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

KILLED: A young housewife was killed by her husband in Maripur on Tuesday. Police said that Mohammad Azam, who was jobless for the past several months, stabbed his wife Nazia, 20, in a quarrel inside their house in Maripur. Police arrested Azam, as he tried to escape after the murder. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

According to the police, Mohammad Azam confessed killing his wife and said that she had made his life miserable. In Mochko, an elderly man was killed by his relatives on Tuesday morning.

Police said that a complainant Kamran came to the police station and said that his mother Razia Begum, brother Imran and step-sister Shahida had killed his father in their house located in Sector 9-D, Sadiqabad.

Quoting the statement of Shahida, police said that she had played music on the first floor of the house when her father Ghous came up and slapped her.

Police said that the quarrel began as his wife Razia and his son Imran intervened in the matter. Ghous was beaten and injured by the family members. Later, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Civil Hospital, police added.
