ISLAMABAD, Jan 1: The National Review Committee (NRC) has proposed various changes to the draft curriculums of electrical, mechanical, electronic and ship construction technologies with specialization in naval professions.

This was announced at a meeting of the NRC with Dr Farid A. Khwaja, director-general National Institute of Science and Technical Education, in the chair. The meeting was held here in collaboration with Pakistan Naval Dockyard Training School, Karachi, and all boards of technical education.

The NRC was informed that subjects for first and second year of the above technologies were common and consisted of major disciplines, including science, mathematics, computer studies, Islamiat, Pakistan studies, management, engineering drawing and functional English, to fulfil the DAE requirements while the third year was based on specialization in naval professions.

The course contents of common subjects of major disciplines are almost the same as already being offered by provincial boards of technical education. Initially, these curriculums would be implemented at the PN Dockyard Training School and later would be introduced throughout the country.

After completion of three years' course, the graduates will be awarded diploma in associate engineer (DAE) with specialization in naval professions.
