TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 1: A dispute between the District Nazim and the principal of Government Ghousia Islamia College, Faridabad, Pirmahal , will come to an end with the withdrawal of powers of district Nazims by the provincial government under which they were empowered to transfer Grade 19 and above officers.

The seat of the college principal had been lying vacant for the last three years after the retirement of Chaudhry Khurshid Ahmad. However, another principal Tahir Rafiq Chaudhry, who replaced the outgoing principal, had died after a few days of his posting.

Since then senior lecturer Muhammad Ashraf had been working as acting principal while students were demanding to fill the vacant post of principal. About two months ago, Punjab Public Instructions Department (PID) had transferred Rao Abdul Mueed Khan of Jhang as principal of this college.

A source disclosed that as soon as he assumed the charge, District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq raised an objection that no officer of Grade 19 or above could be transferred without his permission in the district.

The principal told the District Nazim that he was only bound to inform his appointing authority, but the district Nazim did not agree with him. Instead, the District Nazim wrote to the district accounts officer to stop the salary of the principal. As a result, the principal could not draw his last month's salary.

BLAMED: A local cable TV network owner has blamed two union council Nazims of the District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq group for attacking his office.

In an application to the City police on Thursday, Irfan Hussain alleged that both UC Nazims Rana Hasan Khan, Irfan Sipra and their accomplice damaged his office equipment and computers. When contacted, a City police official said that a case was yet to be registered.

WARNED: Faisalabad Food Department deputy director Rana Saeed Ahmad has warned local flour mills' owners of cancellation of their wheat quota if they fail to supply required number of flour bags in the market. Speaking at a meeting here on Thursday, he asked the millers that they should not charge more than Rs203 per 20kg bag at mills' gates.
